Salary Range (DOQ):

  • $150,000 to $175,000 DOQ Annually

FE is seeking an experienced and motivated Resident Engineer to join our growing Construction Management team based in Ventura County. The Resident Engineer serves as the primary onsite representative for the Owner and is responsible for overseeing construction management activities and administering construction contracts for public works projects. In this role, you will lead project field teams, coordinate with contractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, plans, and specifications. At FE, the role of Resident Engineer is an exciting and rewarding position, supporting the successful delivery of infrastructure projects that serve communities across the Central Coast.

General duties of a Resident Engineer at FE include:

  • Serve as the Owner’s representative on public works construction projects
  • Lead and mentor inspection staff and coordinate daily field operations
  • Administer construction contracts (RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications)
  • Monitor schedule, budget, and quality to ensure successful project delivery
  • Coordinate with agencies, contractors, utilities, and project stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve construction issues to keep projects on track
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, inspection, or public works construction engineering
  • Experience administering public works construction contracts
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and schedules
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and construction management software
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license
  • This role requires regular field work, including walking on uneven terrain, exposure to construction environments, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
